who is she?

hi, i'm kimmy. a 2d animator and illustrator based in england. as a fresh graduate, this website is my first step in jumpstarting an art career.

arkiveofmyown by kimmy tan shows all (most) of my artwork, dated all the way back from my first day of uni until today. i am extremely passionate about animation and character design. i have been creating characters for almost a decade, from drawing on school textbooks to now pursuing it as a career. i may not bring years of experience but i sure bring a fresh perspective to every project i work on. from concept to execution, i collaborate with clients to ensure that their vision is brought to life in the most imaginative and creative ways possible.

my dream is to work with people from around the world and inspire the next generation so that they too, can be an artist and bring their childhood dream characters or creatures to life through animation.

my lifelong dream though (story for another time) is to own a winery in a little town in tuscany, italy which is oddly specific.

missing home

missing home by kimmy was her one last hurrah before graduating from university!

born and raised in malaysia, moving to england to pursue her dream to be an animator has got to be her biggest yet best decision.

she met tons of people (from all over the world), had a lot of fish & chips (very good ones from the coast), cooked her own food (burnt something the very first time), played with a lot of snow (ate them too) shed a lot of tears from assignments (procrastinated and panicked but lesson learnt) and made some of her best memories.

this short film tells her story; a young girl who had always looked forward to an independent lifestyle far from home. amidst the chaos and homesickness, she stuck through it all and finally graduated!
